1. Tuition and homestay fees, 2010:
Tuition - full year (40 weeks) February – December: $10,000
Tuition - half-year (20 weeks) February – July; July – December: $5,000
Tuition - half-year (16 weeks) July – November: $4000 (# see note below)
Students wishing to attend Fraser High for shorter periods will be charged a tuition fee of $250 per week for each week they are enrolled.
The tuition fee covers all tuition costs including ESOL tuition.
Administration Fee: $500
Homestay Service Fee: $200
Homestay: $195 per week
# Note that the lower fee for the half-year July-November is for Year 11-13 students not wishing or needing to sit national examinations. The Administration Fee remains $500.
2. Payment of Tuition Fee:
Full payment of the tuition and administration fee must be made prior to a visa being granted, and prior to commencing at the school.
NZ Immigration requires a student to have $10,000 living expenses as part of their application, but homestay fees can be considered part of these expenses.
3. Other Costs:
The following costs are not covered by the tuition fee and are the responsibility of the student:
- Uniform
A uniform will need to be purchased when the student arrives in New Zealand. A new uniform will cost around NZ$400. A second hand uniform will cost between NZ$200 and NZ$300. These can be brought from the school Uniform Shop.
- Textbooks and Stationery
Subject textbooks are usually provided on loan free of charge to all students. All students are responsible for providing their own workbooks, stationery and calculator etc.
- Examination/Qualifications Fees
There are no exam fees at Years 9 and 10.
National Exam (NCEA) fees (Years 11, 12 & 13 only) are $375 per year.
- Other Expenses
Field trips (generally from $5-$40 per trip).
Some subjects, especially Year 11-13 have additional fees to cover workbooks, materials etc. These are generally quite low ($10-$20) but in certain subjects can be high (eg Year 13 Outdoor Education ($240) & Sports Science ($220). All such fees are the responsibility of the student.
- Travel
Airport pick-up: $70 per trip (students are met at the airport and taken to homestay)
Weekly bus fares: $10-$15 per week (if student is not within walking distance of school)
4. Refund of Fees - Policy:
This is a summary of the Refunds Policy. The more detailed policy is available on request.
Tuition Fee
Should the applicant not come to New Zealand the tuition fee minus NZ$300 administration fee will be refunded to the applicant.
Once the student has started the course, refunds may be made in the first half of the course. A written application for a refund, giving reasons for wanting to withdraw, is required. If the application is accepted, expenses incurred by the school and an administration fee of $300 will be deducted. In the second half of the course a refund will be made only in special circumstances.
A student who wishes to withdraw from the school in order to attend another high school will not normally be entitled to a refund of tuition fees. No refund will be made to a student who is suspended, expelled or excluded from the school.
Homestay Fee
All homestay fees not expended (minus two weeks notice) will be refunded.
5. Term Dates 2010:
Term 1: Tuesday 2 February – Thursday 1 April
Term 2: Monday 19 April – Friday 2 July
Term 3: Monday 19 July – Friday 24 September
Term 4: Monday 11 October – Tuesday 14 December
