International Enrolments - Getting a Student Visa

Student Visa Application

We strongly recommend that where possible you use a local Education Consultant to help get your Visa. A list of Consultants and Agents is available at the New Zealand Education Service Centre at the New Zealand Embassy or High Commission. The Consultant will deal with all the paperwork for you, and will be in constant communication with us.

You can obtain a Visa without using an agent by corresponding directly with the School.

  1. Apply to the School on the official ‘Initial Application Form for a Place at Hamilton’s Fraser High School’ form, ensuring you complete all sections and that you and your parent(s) sign it.  Enclose with your application your latest school report and/or public examination results and a letter outlining why you wish to study in New Zealand.
  2. If your application fulfils our criteria, we will reply reserving a place for you. We will send you a ‘Conditional Offer of Place’ letter and an Invoice for fees. We will also send the other documents that will need to be completed and returned as part of your enrolment:
    • Enrolment Information & Agreement form
    • Application for Homestay & Agreement
    • Student Health Details
    • Policy Information
    • Student Health Details
  3. Take the 'Conditional Offer' to your nearest New Zealand Embassy/High Commission, and collect an application for a visa, and any other documentation NZ Immigration may require. Submit your application and all documentation to NZ Immigration for approval.
  4. Send the school fees to us by registered mail, courier or telegraphic transfer. Please let us know when money is transferred so we can check our bank account.
  5. After receiving the fees we will fax an 'Offer of Place' and a copy of the receipt to the Visa Office in your country, and mail the originals to you.
  6. The Visa Office will issue you with a Student Visa. As you pass through Immigration on your arrival in New Zealand this will be converted to a Student Permit.
