Health Centre

Fraser High School has its own purpose built Health Centre which is a ‘one-stop shop’ to meet the physical and psychological health needs of Fraser students. Very few schools in New Zealand are equipped with such a comprehensive adolescent health centre.

The Health Centre is run effectively and efficiently by qualified, experienced and professional staff.

Staff:

Angela Armory Office Manager/Receptionist 
Gay Summers (M.Ed, Dip.Guid.& Cg) - Counsellor and Head of Guidance & Health Centre
Stuart Barris Counsellor
Lynette Broomfield (Registered Nurse)

Services Available:

Monday to Friday - during school hours

  • Full time registered Nurse covering care and advice on:
    • Asthma, Diabetes, First Aid, Sporting Injuries and Sexual Health
  • Full time Guidance Counsellors dealing with a variety of issues including:
    • Grief, Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Relationship Issues

Visiting Professional Staff:

All visiting professional staff provide a confidential and free service to all Fraser Students

    • Physiotherapist (2 Hours)
    • Specialist Counselling
  • Wednesdays 
    • Drug & Alcohol Counsellor
    • Quit Smoking Programme
  • Thursday
    • Physiotherapist (2 Hours)
  •  Fridays
    • Doctors' Surgery (2 Hours)

Appointments for the clinics can be made by either calling in at the Health Centre during break times or by contacting Angela Armory on 07 847 9044 ext 886.

Disabled Student Service:

The Health Centre in partnership with the Support Centre, caters for the disabled students. We have an access ramp, low level reception and specially adapted toilets to meet students needs.

Professional Responsibilities:

The above staff work under a Code of Ethics that includes confidentiality and the necessity to undergo regular supervision and on-going training.
