Tutor: So Fan Shum

Learn to cook authentic home-style Chinese dishes that will be adored by old and young alike. Healthy ingredients with medicinal properties will be introduced. All recipes will be MSG-free and dairy-free.

The lessons concentrate Cantonese home-style cooking, and include many dishes that you can't get at your local takeaways. Healthy cooking methods are introduced. As well as covering the basics of making fried rice and fried noodles, you will master the technique of preparing meat for stir-fries, learn to steam fish, make dumplings, spring rolls and create other dimsims.

You will start cooking alongside the tutor from the very first lesson. Please bring $15 on the first lesson to cover the cost of the main ingredients, which will be supplied by your tutor, So Fan, and some groceries which will be used in later lessons. Please also bring a container to take your dish home. Students are to bring their own ingredients in the subsequent lessons and will be advised on where you can buy them.

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
