Diversity and inclusion - becoming an authentic ally
What are pronouns? Is Queer an insult? What does LGBTQIA+ mean?
Do you want to become a supportive ally to the Rainbow Community?
Are you keen to gain a better understanding of sex, gender & sexual diversity?
Would you like to gain the skills to create safe and inclusive spaces and workplaces?
Then this workshop is for you!
Enrol now for Saturday 10 December 11:00am - 2:00pm
Rainbow 101 is designed specifically for people who aren’t members of the rainbow community but are committed to developing an understanding of how they can support their rainbow whānau, friends, colleagues, and communities.
This will be a fun, safe, and inclusive space where you can ask questions without judgment, connect with others on a journey of support and allyship, and be invited to share your opinions, perspectives, and lived experience.
We will be exploring what diversity and inclusivity look like in Aotearoa New Zealand including gender identities, attraction, expression, and pronouns. You will gain insight into being part of the rainbow community and how you can be an active ally.
About your Facilitator
Rainbow 101 is facilitated by Slay Way, a proud rainbow community member. They identify as takatāpui, gender-fluid, and use they/them/ia pronouns. They have worked in the rainbow community for over a decade, and are the Education Coordinator for Rainbow Hub Waikato.
They are also a Wellbeing Coach, Event MC, Keynote speaker, and Workshop Facilitator. With a history of working in mental health, the wellbeing industry, and as a tertiary educator, their passion is helping people to learn, grow, develop and evolve into better versions of themselves.
The fine print: For those 16 or older without prior arrangement.
This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
