Sewing Basics and Beyond
This class is two hours a week of sewing bliss!
Whatever your ability, come along to learn and enjoy in a relaxed atmosphere where you can work at your own pace on your own projects.
If you are completely new to sewing or need a refresh, the first few lessons will take you through the basics from threading up a machine, sewing samples and great first step projects. Once you have mastered these you can choose your next project.
For those who are further down their sewing journey, this class is a chance to have a couple of hours a week to bring in your projects and have the assistance of an experienced tutor to ask questions and get help with anything you need. This might be help with following pattern instructions, learning a new skill or technique, adjusting a pattern or a garment to fit or even help with a sewing machine or overlocker.
You are welcome to bring in your sewing machine if you would like to sew with that or there are plenty available to use in the classroom.
Equipment needed:
*If you are new to sewing everything will be provided for the first couple of lessons. During that time we will talk about what equipment is needed and where to purchase it depending on what types of projects you are going to tackle.
*If you are returning to the class, bring in your current project and all the bits and pieces that are required for it.

About the Tutor
Hi, I'm Jenny Jack and I have been stitching for as long as I can remember! I studied Fashion Design and have worked in the apparel industry designing, patternmaking and looking after different aspects of manufacturing. I have also been privileged to be involved in World of Wearable Art shows as a finalist designer of six different garments.
I have taught sewing to both teenagers and adults for the past five years and absolutely love helping people progress along their sewing journey.

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
