This 8 week This course introduces learners who have little to no experience in basic personal introduction, mihimihi, karakia, waiata, as well as the basic language structures and vocabulary at a communicative level. It reinforces vowel, consonants, diphthongs, blends, and correct pronunciation of te reo Māori words and much more. The course will enable students to learn the basics of the language as well as an understanding of cultural connectedness.

ko Pearl tōku īngoa. I am a kaiāwhina and a Kaiako at Fraser ACE. I love working with people. I'm passionate about mātauranga Māori and creating learning experiences that are meaningful and collaborative. I'm here to help build confidence in our students to kōrero Māori with aroha and pride.

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
