Designed to be non-threatening, this six week course will give lots of ideas and resources for you to choose what suits you best. Learn ways of handling the problematic thoughts, feelings and actions that can bombard us when we're fearful or stressed.
'A Mindful Life - dealing with challenges' places an emphasis on mindfulness; the art of paying attention to the present moment in a focused and friendly way. Mindfulness has been shown to be highly beneficial for people experiencing emotional or physical distress.
Jo Wall is an experienced occupational therapist and counselor with a passion for encouraging mental well being. Jo has worked in Community Mental Health services and physical health settings over the past 20 years and now has a private counselling practice.
There will be books available for purchase; however these are an optional addition to the course materials that will be provided.
This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.
