Tutor: Margaret Dewes

Are you sick of the gym?  Wanna get moving but don't know how?  Do you wish exercise was fun, stimulating and creative?  This series of classes is all about getting your hands dirty with movement by engaging in some of the latest stuff that is emerging over the world: taking movement to another level and owning it in our everyday situations.

These classes include interactive play/fight games, strength and mobility skills and discussions on how to include essential movements into your daily routine in an awesome way.  Using balls, the floor and each other, different activities highlight your body's innate intelligence to adapt and manage weight, space and direction.  We take time to explore animal movements which strengthen the entire muscular system, improve coordination and awaken instinct and presence.  Exercises focus on the senses to enhance our ability to respond to and comprehend our environment.  The aim is to challenge our adaptability as human beings by increasing the complexity of what we do and our surroundings.  Everything you learn is applicable to as much or as little to what you do outside of the classroom.  Everyone is welcome.

Wear clothing that is comfortable for you to move in to your end range of mobility.

Water bottles are always a good idea.

Margaret who guides these sessions has studied and trained in embodiment, physical theatre and dance across Europe for the past 14 years.   Her work is her passion and she continues to learn from Tomislav English, Julyen Hamilton, the Feldenkrais method and Katie Bowman.  She loves climbing trees, telling a good yarn and dancing for the hell of it.
